What Catholics Believe
A full day in-service looking at core Catholic beliefs, where they come from and how they related to our special character. Could have been interesting but the delivery was very dry. Some interesting things to think about. There has to be a better way of delivering Catholic content.

COL Activation Day
Another day spent discussing stuff we've already spent the last 18 months discussing. A wasted opportunity. Russell Bishop was interesting and the pick of the presenters. He talked about raising Maori achievement and the importance of making connections with Maori students. The rest of the day was largely forgettable. Nice lunch.
19/2/18Staff Meeting:-Teacher Practices to promote an innovative learning environmentPaul outlined some strategies to assist with the development of effective learning in our new teaching spaces. some interesting idea. Also talked about the College's PD aims for the year.
12/3/18Staff Meeting:- ManaiakalaniThe team from Manaiakalani came in and spoke about their Learn Create Share ideas and canvased for staff to sign their classes up for their skills development sessions. I'm interested as that will hopefully cover appraisal and inquiry. Will discuss with co-teacher in CHHS.
16-18/4/18NZHTA ConferenceHeld at St. Pauls Hamilton. Some excellent keynote speakers and workshops. The two I found most useful were Glyn Harper's 'Caging the Dogs of War' presentation on the difficulties Germany faced trying to end WW1 will be valuable for the unit on Weimar Germany & the rise of the Nazis.
Nepia Mahuika's address 'Healing Historical Trauma in Aotearoa New Zealand' was extremely interesting. He argued for the inclusion of a Maori voice in our historical narrative. Effectively decolonising our history and putting equal weight on the Maori side of our past. A useful perspective to bring into both the Yr.12 & 13 programmes.
23/10/18Linewize/ClasswizeA video conference with Andy from Linewize highlighting the features of the programmes and demonstrating how they might be used in a school setting. Useful in filling in the dots and clarifying some issues.
